Phuket, Thailand – August 2025 – The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) of Thailand will host the 2025 Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) General Conference from 19–21 August 2025 in Phuket Province. This year’s event, held under the theme “Media for People, Peace, and Prosperity,” aims to strengthen collaboration, standards, and capabilities in the broadcasting industry across the Asia-Pacific region.
The high-profile gathering will bring together leaders, policymakers, and executives from over 87 media organizations across 42 member countries and territories, making it one of the most significant media development platforms in the region.
The conference will be structured around three key meetings, each playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of AIBD:
-
Strategic Planning Team (SPT): Serving as AIBD’s think tank, the SPT will convene media experts from member states to design long-term strategies addressing the rapidly evolving media landscape. The PRD will actively participate, contributing delegates to three sub-working groups that will help chart the Institute’s future direction.
-
Executive Board (EXBO): Tasked with governance and oversight, the EXBO will ensure AIBD operations align with strategic goals. Its responsibilities include reviewing and approving projects, activities, and budgets. Currently, Ms. Sudruetai Lertkasem, Director-General of the PRD, serves as Chairperson of the Executive Board.
-
23rd AIBD General Conference (GC): The flagship forum of the Institute will gather top-level decision-makers for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collective action on key broadcasting and media issues shaping the Asia-Pacific.
Organizers emphasized that the 2025 AIBD General Conference will not only highlight emerging media trends but also set a clear strategic vision and actionable framework to advance broadcasting standards and foster sustainable development.
