Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has said that there is a need to learn and utilize new technologies for progress in all sectors including global warming, climate change, health, education and economy.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of the two-day 10th Invention and Innovation Summit 2025 organized by the Punjab University Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at Al-Razi Hall. On this occasion, Chief Operating Officer TEVTA Mehr Shahid Zaman Lak, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Chief Advisor UMT Prof. Dr. Abid HK Sherwani, Director ORIC Dr. Aqil Inam, Senior Vice President Sunder Trade and Industrial Association Syed Moaz Mahmood, Senior Vice President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Engineer Khalid Usman, Muhammad Irfan Qadri from Qadri Group of Companies, Deputy Director Dr. Furqan Hashmi, scientists, industry representatives, researchers, teachers and students from other universities participated. In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said that we have to train the youth so that they can serve the country and nation by setting up their own companies. He said that artificial intelligence and modern technology should be learnt to increase agricultural production, promote industry and create a pleasant environment. He said that we should not limit our industry to manufacturing but rather take it forward. He said that we need to introduce the education of inventions at the school level. He said that Pakistan is in dire need of small inventions and innovations. He appreciated the efforts of the ORIC team for organizing the best event. Meher Shahid Zaman Lak said that Punjab University has provided the new generation with the best opportunity to learn modern technology to deal with challenges in the long-term summit. He said that to move forward, we have to adopt technology in every sphere of life. He said that the promotion of technical skills has become very important. Khalid Usman said that the world is changing rapidly with artificial intelligence. He said that the country has to work together with industry, academia and the business community for the development and prosperity of the nation. Dr. Aqil Inam said that the aim of the two-day summit was to promote the culture of sharing innovations. He said that there is a need to take advantage of the new technologies and suggestions introduced by the participants. Syed Moaz Mahmood, Muhammad Irfan Qadri also addressed the event. Later, the participants who were declared successful in the oral, poster presentations, and technology stalls held during the two-day summit were awarded certificates of appreciation and cash prizes.
