PPP Lahore Holds Major Rally in Johar Town, Vows to Reclaim City as Party Stronghold
Lahore: The Pakistan Peoples Party's Lahore chapter organized a large-scale rally in Johar Town on Tuesday, marking a significant show of strength as the party gears up for upcoming local bodies elections and intensifies its membership drive in the provincial capital.
The rally, described by organizers as historic and well-attended, was spearheaded by Ms. Samina Khalid Ghurki, Convener of the PPP Local Bodies Election Committee, along with prominent party leaders including Faisal Mir, Mian Misbahur Rehman, Azizur Rehman Chan, and Majeed Ghori. The event drew substantial participation from party officials, members of the local bodies committee, grassroots workers, and local residents, reflecting what organizers characterized as the PPP's growing influence in Lahore.
During the rally, participants announced comprehensive preparations for the forthcoming local government elections and officially launched the party's membership campaign while outlining their strategic roadmap for the future. The streets of Johar Town resonated with party slogans and were adorned with PPP flags as enthusiastic workers demonstrated their commitment to the cause.
In statements to the media, Ms. Samina Ghurki, Faisal Mir, and Majeed Ghori emphasized the party's determination to restore its traditional dominance in the city. They declared their intention to transform Lahore once again into a stronghold of the Pakistan Peoples Party and pledged to bring Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's vision to every household in the metropolis.
The leadership outlined an ambitious welfare agenda, promising citizens improved access to education, skills training, employment opportunities, healthcare services, clean drinking water, and comprehensive social protection programs. They specifically committed to ensuring that assistance under the Benazir Income Support Programme reaches its intended recipients, particularly impoverished families, widows, and members of the working class.
The party leaders reiterated the PPP's longstanding identity as the champion of Pakistan's underprivileged segments, including laborers, farmers, and marginalized communities. They emphasized that these groups constitute the core strength and foundational support base of the party.
According to the leadership, the substantial turnout at the rally not only signals the PPP's resurgence in Lahore but also demonstrates continuing public faith in the political philosophy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the sacrifices of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and the dynamic leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. They pointed to Pakistan's political history as evidence of the PPP's consistent advocacy for democratic principles, citizens' rights, pro-labor legislation, poverty reduction initiatives, and public welfare measures.
Concluding their remarks, the party representatives called upon the public to unite with the Pakistan Peoples Party, participate actively in the membership campaign, and contribute to advancing democracy, development, and public service through their support in the upcoming local bodies elections.
