LAHORE: In a significant political development, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan welcomes former rivals, including Haji Nawaz Guddu, into the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), reaffirming commitment to national stability and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's leadership.
According to the details in a move signaling a significant shift in the political landscape of Punjab, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) welcomed a group of prominent local figures, including a former leader from a banned religious party, during a high-profile ceremony at the Governor's House on Monday.
 
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan presided over the event, using the occasion to reaffirm the party's commitment to national stability and to champion Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as the country's future Prime Minister.
 
New Members Pledge Allegiance to PPP Leadership
 
The joining ceremony, organized by senior PPP leader Imran Ali Khokhar, saw former political opponents formally align with the party. The most notable new member is Haji Nawaz Guddu, a former ticket-holder of a now-banned religious political party.
 
He was joined by several influential local leaders from the Rajput community, including Malik Shahbaz Rajput, Malik Nasir Rajput, Malik Irshad Rajput, Malik Shahbaz, and Malik Nasir. In a traditional gesture of welcome, Governor Saleem Haider personally adorned the new members with the party's signature mufflers.

Addressing the gathering, the Punjab Governor framed the new memberships as evidence of the PPP's rising popularity and a bright future in Pakistani politics.
 
"The increasing influx of political leaders and workers from other parties into the PPP is a clear testament to our growing popularity," Governor Haider Khan stated. He emphasized the party's foundational principles, declaring, "The Pakistan Peoples Party has always been a party of the downtrodden and impoverished, and we maintain a tradition of respecting and valuing our workers at all levels."
 
Sharing his personal commitment, he added, "I began my political career with the PPP and will remain with the party until my last breath."
 
Strong Endorsement for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's Leadership
 
Governor Haider Khan reserved high praise for the party's chairman, positioning him as the nation's next leader.
 
"Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demonstrated immense maturity and capability as a political leader," he said. "The people of Pakistan have placed their full trust in Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and aspire to see him serve as the Prime Minister of the country."
 
He expressed supreme confidence that the PPP would secure a substantial public mandate in the upcoming elections, stressing the strategic importance of regaining its stronghold in Lahore.
 
Newcomer Cites "Clean Politics" as Reason for Joining PPP
 
Speaking on behalf of the new members, Haji Nawaz Guddu explained his decision to join the PPP, expressing "complete confidence" in the leadership of both Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari.
 
"I believe in clean and people-friendly politics," Guddu stated. "The PPP is the only political party capable of providing me with the platform to practice such principles."
