Lahore, October 28, 2025 — The Shaheed Bhutto Foundation is organizing a seminar talk on local government featuring two of Pakistan’s leading governance experts, Mr. Salman Abid, Executive Director of IDEA Think Tank, and Mr. Zahid Islam, Executive Director, on Wednesday (tomorrow).

The event will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Provincial Secretariat of the Pakistan Peoples Party, 158-C Model Town, Lahore.

The seminar aims to focus on Punjab’s long-delayed local government (LG) elections and discuss the pros and cons, objectives, and impact of the newly promulgated Punjab Local Government Act (PLGA) 2025. The discussion will bring together experts, policymakers, and civil society representatives to evaluate the effectiveness of the new law and its potential impact on strengthening grassroots democracy in Punjab.
