The devastating 2022 floods were a calamity of historic proportions, but they were met with the unyielding spirit of the Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari This wasn't just a natural disaster it was a crisis of climate justice that washed away over two million homes and decimated millions of livelihoods, including over 1.1 million livestock. Chairman Sahab ’s exceptional leadership transformed the tragedy into an opportunity for resilience and formed an internationally recognized action plan.
While others played politics, our Chairman, then Foreign Minister didn't just spend continuous days on the ground with the flood victims; he took the fight to the global stage. He became the voice for millions, passionately demanding Climate Justice and successfully mobilizing resources, stating clearly: what happened to us will happen to you.
In Sindh, The PPP delivered a project the world is now praising:
• The Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF) is building 2.1 million resilient homes. We didn't just give houses; we empowered women by giving women the ownership of their new homes.
• Targeted Aid: When others talk of charity, we insist on dignity. We pushed for and ensured relief through the globally respected Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), because BISP is the fastest, most transparent, and most respectful way to get cash directly to the most vulnerable families, a mechanism the PPP trusts and defends against all those who question its transparency.
• Restoring Livelihoods: The Sindhi Government revived the agricultural heartland, bringing back 350,000 acres of wheat cultivation to restore food security.
• Immediate Shelter & Sustenance: In the darkest hours, the government ensured 941,000 essential shelters and 2.5 million ration bags reached the people.
• A Brighter Future: The Sindh Government rebuilding over 22,000 damaged schools and establishing 35 new People's Schools to bring 25,000+ students back to safe learning environments.
The PPP doesn't believe in temporary relief; we believe in sustainable recovery, empowerment, and a future built back better. That is the commitment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and that is the promise of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The recent floods in Punjab have caused catastrophic destruction, submerging over 1.5 million acres of the nation's "food basket," destroying thousands of homes and displacing millions. The sheer scale of the humanitarian and agricultural crisis demands an urgent, coordinated, and resource-intensive response. This humanitarian crisis has been compounded by the provincial government's controversial stance of rejecting international financial assistance, with leadership publicly stating a refusal to "beg" for aid. Compounding the issue, the government has denied the use of the transparent and World Bank-recognized Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) for relief, opting instead for a different, unproven system. This denial of established mechanisms stands in stark contrast to the frequent, highly visible "photo ops" of officials among the victims, a move widely criticized as prioritizing political image over effective and transparent disaster response, leaving countless flood-affected citizens still on the roads and their urgent needs unmet.
MNA Kasim Gillani deserves the highest praise for his extraordinary dedication to his flood-ravaged constituents. For 25 straight days, in the hardest-hit areas, he has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with his people, serving as a true beacon of hope and support. What makes his leadership truly remarkable is that he has not wavered, even after contracting bronchitis, a commitment that contrasts sharply with the conspicuous absence of the provincial government. While the provincial government and its head has yet to visit, MNA Kasim Gillani’s continuous, hands-on presence and personal sacrifice are genuinely worthy of the highest commendation.
Though fewer in number on that side, our stars shine with a brilliance that eclipses the combined light their side.
The people know who their leaders truly are. Even if those who grew up in the lap of General Zia, try to govern public offices - Hearts are still ruled by BB Shaheed Rani. That is the only leadership they truly feel connected to. What’s deeply upsetting is how 'Bughz-e-Benazir' still burns inside certain people.
Siyasat Ibadat Hai (Politics is Service) is best exemplified by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's advocacy for BISP's transparency ensures that aid is delivered ethically, acting as the system's conscience. Meanwhile, MNA Kasim Gillani's refusal to leave his flood-ravaged people, even when ill, embodies the sacrificial, hands-on worship required of a true public servant. This is not governance it is genuine devotion to the people.
Jiye Bhutto Jiye Benazir.
