LAHORE POLICE CRACKDOWN ON ELECTRICITY THEFT OVER 9,530 SUSPECTS ARRESTED, MORE THAN 7,770 CASES REGISTERED
Lahore: Lahore Police have intensified their crackdown on electricity theft, resulting in the arrest of over 9,530 suspects and the registration of more than 7,770 FIRs so far this year, according to a statement released by the police spokesman today.
Breaking down the figures, the spokesman said that 1,207 suspects were arrested in Iqbal Town Division, 1,879 in Sadar Division, 3,040 in Cantonment, 1,874 in Model Town, 1,095 in City Division and 438 in Civil Lines. FIRs have been registered against all arrested individuals in their respective police stations.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana reaffirmed the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward those who harm national resources. He directed field officers to maintain close coordination with relevant departments to curb electricity theft effectively.
He emphasized swift action on all complaints related to electricity theft and ordered that arrests in registered cases be ensured without delay. He further instructed officers to expedite investigations and submit charge sheets to courts on time. Special measures are also being taken to apprehend proclaimed offenders involved in electricity theft.
The CCPO also urged supervisory officers to pay special attention to the investigation process in electricity theft cases to ensure thorough and efficient prosecution.
