WOMAN RESCUED, TWO FAMILY MEMBERS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
Lahore: The Virtual Women Police Station of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority has taken timely action against domestic violence, leading to the arrest of two accused individuals involved in the severe physical assault of a woman. According to details, a distress call was received at the 15 Emergency Helpline from a woman residing in Multan. She reported that her husband and brother-in-law had subjected her to extreme verbal abuse and physical violence over a minor domestic dispute. The Virtual Women Police Station acted immediately, sharing the necessary information and location with the relevant police station. The police responded without delay, reaching the scene to provide safety to the victim. Both accused individuals were taken into custody, and a case was registered on the woman’s complaint. Legal proceedings have now been initiated and initial investigation confirmed the woman's claims, with evidence of verbal abuse by the husband and subsequent physical assault by the brother-in-law.
The spokesperson further shared that more than 350,000 women have benefitted from the services of the Virtual Women Police Station to date. The platform ensures rapid follow-up on complaints, providing women with protection and access to justice within their own homes.Women facing domestic violence, harassment, blackmail, or any threat can call 15 and press 2 to contact the Virtual Women Police Station for immediate support and action.
