Lahore: Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan today hosted an Iftar dinner in honour of children suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia and the journalist community here at Governor House Lahore. The Governor Punjab shook hands with the children and inquired about their well-being. The children were very happy to have the Governor Punjab among them.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that children suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia were his guests today who were more than ministers and advisors to him. He said that it was a great honour for him to sit and have Iftar with these children and he considered himself lucky that Allah Almighty gave him the opportunity to serve children suffering from this deadly disease. The Governor of Punjab said that welfare organizations like Sundas Foundation, which are serving humanity, should be encouraged at all levels. He said that the children suffering from thalassemia are in dire need of blood during the month of Ramadan. He appealed to the young generation to donate as much blood as possible during this month. The Governor of Punjab said that as long as he was present in the Governor House, the doors of the Governor House were open to the public. He added that the PPP has always struggled for the independence and rule of law of institutions. He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party believes in freedom of the press. The Governor of Punjab said that a free and responsible media is very important for the continuity and stability of democracy. He said that media plays pivotal role in creating awareness among the public.
The ceremony was attended by Patron Sundas Foundation Sohail Warraich, President Yasin Khan, Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar. Senior journalists Iftikhar Ahmed, Wasif Nagi, Raees Ansari, Shakeel Malik, Sofia Bedar, Dr. Lubna Zaheer, Syed Shoaibuddin, Mian Shahid Nadeem, Adnan Malik, Nazir Bhatti, Faisal Idrees Butt and a large number of journalists .
