PPP Pledges Tickets for Labor Representatives in Upcoming Elections

Addressing a gathering organized by the Railway Workers Union Nazriati at the Railway Workshop in Mughalpura, Faisal Mir said the Pakistan Peoples Party would raise railway workers' issues on every available platform. He announced that labor representatives would be awarded party tickets in the upcoming local body and general elections. During the event, leaders of several Pakistan Railways unions announced their decision to join the PPP.

Mir credited Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with empowering Pakistan's working class and said the party was actively working to organize labor unions within PTCL, Sui Gas, and WAPDA. He expressed hope that workers would stay united so their demands could be heard during the national budget-making process.

PPP Slams Government Over Railway Neglect, PIA Sale

PPP Lahore General Secretary Dr. Ayesha Shaukat criticized the government for failing to improve the railway network and for treating its employees as a burden rather than an asset. Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, she alleged that after selling Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the Punjab government purchased an aircraft worth eleven billion rupees.

Dr. Shaukat added that representing the working class has always been central to PPP's politics, and that railway union leaders joining the party proves that workers continue to trust the PPP's manifesto.

Party Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Workers' Rights

PPP Lahore Senior Vice President Mian Shahid Abbas reiterated that the Peoples Party has consistently raised its voice for workers' rights. Majeed Ghauri, convener of the PPP Lahore Organizing Committee, said that worker wages have historically only increased under PPP governments.

Other party leaders who addressed the gathering included Deputy Secretaries Information Ahmed Ghuman and Hassan Abbas, Asjad Malik, Vice Presidents Khurram Farooq and Agha Taqi, and Shalimar Town President Zahid Zulfiqar.
