Lahore: The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with national spirit, enthusiasm, and a renewed commitment to playing an even more effective role in the country’s digital development. A prestigious ceremony was held at NTC Headquarters, Islamabad, attended by NTC’s senior management, distinguished guests, and employees. Managing Director NTC, Major General (Retd.) Ali Farhan (Hilal-i-Imtiaz Military), attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering. Mr. Ikram-ul-Haq, representative of the Ministry of IT & Telecom, also attended the ceremony as a Guest of Honor and addressed the gathering.

In his address, the Managing Director paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and all the men and women whose sacrifices, determination, and struggle led to the creation of Pakistan. He emphasized that the principles of Faith, Unity, and Discipline remain as relevant today as ever and must continue to guide the nation towards progress and prosperity.

Highlighting NTC role in Pakistan’s digital transformation, he stated that NTC will continue to play its part in providing secure, reliable, and modern ICT infrastructure to government institutions and citizens, while promoting digital connectivity across the country.

He further emphasized that the fundamental purpose of technology is the welfare and well-being of individuals and society, while Pakistan’s youth remain the country’s most valuable asset. Providing young people with quality education, digital skills, and access to modern technology is essential to enable them to make meaningful contributions to the country’s economic, social, and technological development.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ikram-ul-Haq, representative of the Ministry of IT & Telecom, appreciated NTC outstanding performance and its contribution to Pakistan’s digital development. He remarked that he had witnessed Pakistanis serving abroad with dedication and hard work, describing Pakistan as a nation of hardworking, talented, and capable people.

He also appreciated NTC contribution towards national development and emphasized the importance of creating greater opportunities for the country’s youth. He stressed that young people should be provided meaningful opportunities to participate in mainstream decision-making processes so that their ideas, talent, and creativity can contribute to Pakistan’s progress.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, NTC also organized a nationwide poster designing competition for university students, which received an overwhelming and enthusiastic response from students across the country. Hamza Shoukat secured first position, Muhammad Ali Haider secured second position, while Rahul Kumar secured third position in the competition.

The Managing Director NTC congratulated the participating students and appreciated their creativity, enthusiasm, and spirit of patriotism. He noted that such positive and creative initiatives play an important role in fostering self-confidence, creative thinking, and a sense of national responsibility among the youth.

The poster designing competition provided students and young participants with an opportunity to express their love for Pakistan and patriotic sentiments through creativity and art. The enthusiastic participation from students across the country reflected the creativity of Pakistan’s young generation and their commitment to a brighter future for the nation.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Managing Director NTC reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to continuing its role in Pakistan’s digital transformation, strengthening modern ICT infrastructure, and contributing effectively to the country’s national development agenda.
