PPP Holds Key Meeting at Bilawal House Lahore Under President Zardari's Chairmanship
Reaffirms Commitment to National Unity and Anti-Terrorism
Lahore: A significant meeting of the Pakistan Peoples Party's local and provincial leadership was held today at Bilawal House Lahore under the chairmanship of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. The meeting addressed internal party affairs as well as the country's overall political and economic situation in considerable detail. Divisional and district presidents, members of the PPP Central Punjab Executive Committee, and newly elected office-bearers from districts across Central Punjab participated in the session.
Addressing the meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari stressed the importance of political dialogue and national unity, stating that democratic engagement is the strongest means of achieving justice, national harmony, and progress. He also highlighted the need for steadfastness in public service and constructive politics. The President noted that Pakistan is currently navigating economic pressures and political challenges, and that party workers and leadership must demonstrate patience and sustained effort to overcome these difficulties.
President Zardari further emphasized the need to strengthen the agriculture sector and ensure economic stability, describing both as indispensable to national development. He directed the party leadership to maintain a consistent focus on these objectives. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood firm on its founding principles and the legacy of its historic leadership, and will continue to do so in the future.
Speaking on national security, President Zardari said that national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of Pakistan have always formed the bedrock of the PPP's identity. He stated that from Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and now Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood resolute against the enemies of Pakistan. The President declared that the party stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces in confronting the nefarious designs of foreign-backed terrorists, and that extremism and terrorism will be defeated through the unity of the people.
PPP Central Punjab President and former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, in his address, shed light on the ongoing efforts to enhance the party's organizational capacity in Punjab. He underscored the need to focus on engaging the youth with the party across the province and on further consolidating its organizational structure. Peoples Women Wing Central Punjab President and Member of the National Assembly Samina Khalid Gharki highlighted the role of women in political and community mobilization, emphasizing the importance of grassroots public engagement. PPP Lahore President Faisal Mir delivered a detailed briefing on party affairs pertaining to Lahore and informed the meeting of the party's ongoing activities in relation to public issues.
The meeting was moderated by PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza, who delivered the opening remarks and formally introduced the divisional presidents and district leadership during the course of the session.
