PSL 2025: Darren Gough named Lahore Qalandars head coach
Former England fast bowler returns to lead after global super league success

Former England fast bowling star Darren Gough has been appointed head coach of Lahore Qalandars for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, the franchise announced Wednesday in Lahore.
Gough, 54, returns to the Qalandars after leading the team to the finals during last year's Global Super League. The appointment marks a significant addition to Pakistan's premier Twenty20 competition, bringing international cricket expertise to the franchise.
The Yorkshire cricket veteran brings substantial experience to the role, having claimed England's record for One Day International wickets during his playing career from 1994 to 2006. His transition to leadership includes serving as England's bowling consultant in 2020 and as Yorkshire's Managing Director of Cricket.
"The PSL offers an exceptional platform with considerable talent in the Qalandars roster," Gough said following the announcement. "We aim to deliver competitive cricket this season with the support of our fan base."
Team Director Sameen Rana cited Gough's previous success with the franchise as a key factor in the appointment. "His contributions during the Global Super League demonstrated his understanding of the team's culture," Rana said.
The timing of the appointment allows Gough to prepare the squad ahead of the 2025 PSL season, where the Qalandars will compete against five other franchises in Pakistan's top cricket league.
