Lahore: A grand literary evening was held at the Mozart Haus Cultural Centre, Lahore, to celebrate the launch of Dr. Nazir Qaiser’s two new poetry books, “Ankhain Chehra Hath” and “Hare Krishna”. The event, moderated gracefully by Muqadas Majeed, turned into a memorable gathering of literature, culture, and intellectual reflection.

The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Najeeb Jamal, while the distinguished guests of honour included Shehzada Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui, Dr. Kausar Jamal Cheema, and Bilkis Riaz.

Speakers and scholars such as Rukhsanda Naveed, Asif Imran, Dr. Mehmood Nasir Malik, Dr. Irfan-ul-Haq, Tasneem Kausar, Asnath Kanwal, Shafaq Lashari, Safia Kausar, Mansha Qazi, and Yasmeen Zafar presented thought-provoking papers on Nazir Qaiser’s life and poetry, highlighting his role as a poet of deep philosophy, spirituality, and cultural reflection.

Poet Saqlain Jafri recited a poem dedicated to Dr. Qaiser, while Aftab Javed presented an excerpt from his work, adding a lyrical beauty to the evening.

Prominent literary and cultural personalities graced the event, including Dr. Atiya Syed, Manzoor Malik, renowned cartoonist Abdul Waheed Chughtai, Haroon Rashid, Tania Mahmood Awan, Owais Azmi, Dr. Yumna, Dr. Ali Rizwan, Naseer Gulzar Imran (Chief Editor, fortnightly Saiban), Kanwal Naseer, Farah Khan, Nasim Roma (Director, Alhamra Arts Council), along with a large number of admirers and disciples of Dr. Qaiser.

The evening was described by speakers as more than a book launch — it was a celebration of words and love, a renewal of Urdu literary tradition, and a moment of spiritual and cultural revival.

In her address, Dr. Kausar Jamal Cheema noted that Nazir Qaiser’s poetry reflects life’s sorrows and joys with simplicity yet profound depth, drawing readers into contemplation. Prince Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui emphasized that his works are not mere words but a spiritual journey reconnecting readers with heritage and meaning.

Adding a deeply personal note, Abida Qaiser, the poet’s wife, remarked, “Perhaps I did some good in life that I was rewarded with Nazir Qaiser.” Her words captured the spiritual and emotional depth of the evening.

At the conclusion, Dr. Nazir Qaiser and Abida Qaiser warmly thanked the guests for their presence and extended special gratitude to Aamir Rafiq, Director of Mozart Haus, for his heartfelt hospitality and impeccable arrangements.

The program ended with a reception, but the true takeaway for participants was the intellectual dialogue and spiritual resonance that defined the evening — a gathering that will long be remembered in Lahore’s literary history.
