Bangkok— Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has unveiled an ambitious and optimistic interim policy programme, promising to stabilise Thailand, modernise the state, and deliver immediate relief to citizens — all within the government’s short four-month mandate before fresh elections are called.

Despite leading a temporary administration, Anutin emphasised urgency and clarity of purpose.

“Four months from now, by January 31, I will dissolve parliament. This is an interim government that has come in to deliver results — to restore confidence, protect national dignity, and prepare Thailand for a stronger future,” he declared before parliament.

Fast-Tracking Digital Governance and Legal Reform

A core pillar of Anutin’s agenda is Government Administration and Legal Reform, with two headline promises:

  • Accelerate the transition to digital government by proposing legislation to modernize public administration.

  • Expedite legal reform to reduce burdens on citizens and businesses.

These reforms are expected to streamline bureaucracy, reduce corruption touchpoints, and allow citizens to access services more efficiently through unified digital platforms.

Direct Economic Relief to Households and Small Businesses

Under the Economy agenda, the government will prioritise income growth, debt relief, and liquidity support, featuring:

  • Increase income and reduce daily living expenses through the popular Half–Half co-payment scheme, energy subsidies, fare reductions, and toll fee relief.

  • Address household debt and improve liquidity by:

    • Restoring confidence among international tourists.

    • Providing public debt relief of up to 100,000 baht per person.

    • Supporting SMEs with funding of up to 1 million baht per enterprise.

To strengthen long-term resilience, the government also aims to:

  • Expand savings opportunities for citizens.

  • Mitigate impacts from global trade conflicts by:

    • Establishing a “Team Thailand” mechanism to expand trade partnerships.

    • Supporting SMEs and farmers affected by economic pressures.

    • Creating a modern, competitive investment environment for both current and future industries.

Security, Social Order, and Rule of Law

Anutin reaffirmed strong national security commitments, pledging peaceful resolution of the Thailand–Cambodia border dispute and intensified efforts to resolve unrest in the south.

Domestically, he promised zero tolerance for illegal gambling, corruption, narcotics trafficking, and cybercrime, stressing that officials who fail to act will face legal consequences. Protection of Buddhism “alongside other religions” will also be prioritised.

Environment, Climate Safety, and Disaster Readiness

Thailand’s growing exposure to natural disasters has prompted a new national alert system upgrade, while the government will advance a low-carbon society through:

  • Expansion of clean energy,

  • Eco-friendly agriculture, and

  • A carbon credit trading market aligned with global standards.

Political Reform with a People-First Mindset

Anutin expressed support for a referendum on constitutional reform, signalling openness to long-term democratic stability beyond his temporary administration.

A Short Mandate With Big Promises

Although acknowledging that “the government lacks time to address every structural issue,” Anutin framed his mission clearly:

“This is a government of stability, action, and preparation. We will relieve burdens today while building the foundations for a more competitive Thailand tomorrow.”

With a laser-focused agenda — digital transformation, economic relief, legal modernization, and security reinforcement — Thailand’s interim government is positioning its four-month tenure not as a pause before elections, but as a launchpad for national renewal.
