BANGKOK, Thailand — Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Thursday chaired a meeting with the Board of Trade of Thailand and the Thai Chamber of Commerce, pledging urgent measures to restore economic momentum as his incoming cabinet awaits royal endorsement.

Anutin confirmed that the full list of cabinet members has already been submitted for royal approval. Once endorsed, the government will immediately present its policy statement to parliament and begin implementing its agenda without delay.

“I don’t care whose policy it is, or where it comes from. If it benefits the nation and the public, I will make it happen. For the four months when our government leads the country, I guarantee our economy will not regress,” the prime minister said.

Economic Team Introduced

At the meeting, Anutin introduced members of his economic team, underscoring their strong ties to the private sector. Among them were Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, nominated as Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister; Auttapol Rerkpiboon, expected to become Energy Minister; Suphajee Suthumpan, nominated for Commerce Minister; and Vorapak Tanyawong, set to serve as Deputy Finance Minister.

Anutin praised Vorapak’s capabilities, noting that his nomination came at the request of Dr. Ekniti, reflecting confidence in his expertise.

Chamber’s Priorities

The Thai Chamber of Commerce urged the incoming government to focus on strengthening business confidence, boosting liquidity, and stimulating the economy through targeted measures. Its proposals included:

  • Managing the baht at 34–35 per dollar to maintain export competitiveness.

  • Stimulating household consumption with schemes like Khon La Khrueng and the Easy E-Receipt campaign.

  • Supporting SMEs with 10 billion baht in funding to cover non-performing loans.

  • Enhancing tourism through one-stop service centres, stronger safety measures—particularly for Chinese visitors—and reduced import duties on lifestyle products in key destinations.

  • Accelerating trade negotiations to address U.S. tariffs, reduce non-tariff barriers, and expand exports to China, Africa, and the Middle East.

Chamber chairman Poj Aramwattananont said he was encouraged by the government’s responsiveness, describing the economic ministers-designate as both capable and widely respected by the business community.

Next Steps

The Anutin-led cabinet is expected to receive royal endorsement in the coming days. Once confirmed, the government aims to present its policy statement before the end of the month, launching what Anutin described as a four-month action plan to jumpstart growth before the next dissolution of parliament and general election.
