Special Ceremony Honours Sanitation Workers on Minorities Day and Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day
In collaboration with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Green Clean Labour Union, organized a special ceremony to honour the contributions of sanitation workers.

LAHORE – On the occasion of Minorities Day and Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day, Sohail Alam, Member of the Punjab Minority Advisory Council, in collaboration with the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Green Clean Labour Union, organized a special ceremony to honour the contributions of sanitation workers.
The event was graced by Philebos Christopher, MPA and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Minority Affairs, Punjab, and Dr. Saeed Elahi, former Punjab Health Minister. Both dignitaries paid tribute to the dedication and hard work of sanitation staff, acknowledging their vital role in keeping cities clean and vibrant.
Speaking on the occasion, Sohail Alam lauded sanitation workers as the “true heroes of Pakistan,” emphasizing that the country’s beauty and urban liveliness would not be possible without their tireless efforts.
The ceremony concluded with the cutting of a cake to mark both Independence Day and Minorities Day, symbolizing national solidarity, unity, and respect for all citizens regardless of background.
