On World Environment Day, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for a Green Revolution in Pakistan

Islamabad: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari delivered a powerful message emphasizing the urgent need for immediate and collective action to protect the environment and secure the planet for future generations.
Bilawal stated that "Pakistan needs a green revolution" — not one limited to agriculture, but one that transforms our thinking, governance, and everyday lives.
He pointed out that while Pakistan contributes less than one percent to global carbon emissions, it suffers some of the worst consequences of climate change. “Pakistan demands climate justice from the world to protect its people,” he said.
He further stressed that those who pollute the Earth must be held accountable to the nations that endure the environmental destruction.
Paying tribute to the vision of the late Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Bilawal said she made environmental consciousness a national priority at a time when the world was only beginning to recognize its importance. “Her vision lives on in our energy policies, forest protection strategies, and water resource conservation efforts,” he added.
Bilawal warned of the deep wounds inflicted on the planet due to human negligence, greed, and apathy, saying, “It is time to heal these wounds.”
Addressing the youth, he called them the guardians of tomorrow and urged them to raise their voices, use their votes, and stand by their vision for a healthier planet.
In his closing message, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appealed to everyone:
“Let us all choose life. Let us choose the Earth.”
